Malaysia's new Agong (King)

Daulat Tuanku! Daulat Tuanku! Daulat Tuanku!
In Malaysia, these are the exclaims one gives to the king which literally means "Long live the king!"
Every five years, Malaysia rotates the post of King amongst 9 sultanates. I never forget the date of the official installation because it falls on the 26th April - my birthday (beaming away).
This year, the Royal Highness is the 13th King (Agong) of Malaysia. Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin is a young man of 45, who epitomises today's Malay generation. Other than being partly educated in Australia, his curriculum vitae would include being a 7th Dan Black Belt Taekwando fighter, equestrian and diver. It was also reported that he is rather outspoken, compared to some other sultans or Kings. Perhaps one appealing factor this young King has is the fact that his position on the throne will be shared with Queen Nur Zahirah - who covers her head like Muslims should.
I am optimistic. I am hopeful that the new King will have a significant role in Malaysia.

salam,

saya tgk masa pertabalan ni. dlm banyak2 acara tu, si Raja Muda Terengganu nilah (yg berdiri sblh agung tu) paling menarik perhatian saya. sbb dia kena duduk sebaris ngan Sultan2 or Raja Muda negeri2..bayangkan kecil lagi dah pikul tanggungjawab tu (tak salahnya dah sekolah rendah)mewakili negeri Terengganu.
Biasalah budak sbaya diakan, mana boleh nak duduk diam dlm majlis rasmi, mesti nak bergerak ke sana sini. sampaikan mak saya yg tgk sama pun cakap, kok buatlah budak ni nak b*r*k ke (dia tumpang risau sama hihi). Tapi, alhamdulillah Raja Muda ni melaluinya ngan baik..duduk diam drp awal hingga akhir!

Saya perasan gak yang sesekali permaisuri agung duk mengerling kat anakandanya tu. yelah, hati ibu mana tak risau akan anaknyakan?

Oh ya, saya ada baca dlm laporan akhbar, agung ni tak suka majlis2 diraja berakhir larut malam, ngan alasan keesokkan pegawai2 nak bekerja. so, by 10. 30 mlm tak salahnya, semua majlis kena ebrakhir..baguskan?

mak lang,
welcome! Phew... lega ada orang Malaysia kat Malaysia pun tak dapat tengok upacara tu kat TV.Hehehe

kak elle,
I think we had Raja Permaisuri Siti Aishah of the late Sultan Selangor as our permaisuri Agong who covered her hair too.

kak lady,
nampaknya Rad dah buat correction: ada dah Agong yang lebih muda.

mamasarah,
we only pray for the better, InsyaAllah..

rad,
Hey, better late than never, right? Sorrylah, now I'm pretty busy juggling part-time tutoring, home-making, studying, book-writing and blogging (Ooops!). I started the entry earlier but never completed it to publish. I have a few more in my bank - waiting to be completed. Oh, sigh**

:) suka tenguk kedua agung dan permaisuri...ada cahaya keimanan di wajah mereka...and vredit to the permaisuri - for keeping the agung to look much younger than his 45 years of age.
a happy family indeed.

sejuk hati rakyat!

arif.

Daulat Tuanku, seronok tengok the ceremony and sedikit menyesal bila invitation utk High Tea bersama YDPA on 28 April hari tu terpaksa ditolak and bagi kat officer lain atas sebab2 dah janji nak bawa my little one jalan..huhuhuhu....Anyway abt the changes yang boleh dibuat, im not dare to mention or to give my view, takut kene tangkap ...just read thru our Federal Constitution and hes being a Symbol of Islamic Religion in our nation....and its all a result of our Malay History..
